About me

I offer professional yet down to earth counselling, allowing you to explore life's difficulties (whatever they may be) and find a way forward that’s right for you.

Talking helps. When we’re overwhelmed, confused or feel that something isn’t right with us, talking to someone independent, who will listen with sensitivity and without judgement, can really help bring awareness and enable personal change.

I hope that you will find in me a professional but ‘real’ person. I will really listen to you so that I can understand what it’s like being you at the moment. Together, we will work to get you back on track, with clarity about why things feel like they do and positive ways to deal with your issues. I’m not going to tell you what to do or just sit there and nod; I want you to feel that I’m actively alongside you and that I have your back.

My experience comes from counselling many individuals in different settings and also from having worked in people-based roles where I supported and coached individuals and teams through work/people-related challenges.

You’ve made the (maybe scary) decision to seek counselling. The relationship you have with your counsellor will be key to effective therapy for you. You can’t fully tell whether I’m right for you from looking at my picture or reading this (although it’s a good start). You’re parting with your hard-earned money, so need peace of mind. I therefore offer a free initial 30 minute call where we can talk about what you’re hoping to get out of counselling and establish together whether I could be the right counsellor for you. I hope I am.

I am happy to work face-to-face (in my therapy room at home), online (using Microsoft Teams) and over the phone.

My current working days are Monday and Tuesday (daytime and evening).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
