About me

Welcome to my page. My name’s Julia and I’m a fully qualified, BACP registered, integrative counsellor and psychotherapist.

Are you struggling to cope or experiencing low mood? Do you feel uneasy or ‘not like your usual self’ and you don’t know why? Are you wondering where your anxiety comes from? Do the same patterns seem to repeat throughout your life? I can help you make positive changes in your life, by exploring your problems at a deeper depth. You may feel you can’t talk to friends or family as they have their own problems, I’m here to help. Talking therapy is proven to reduce stress and anxiety, thus reducing both mental and physical illness and improving general wellbeing.

Your well-being is central to everything we will work on. Counselling is time for you – it’s your time and your space to reflect upon your current worries, fears, problems and reflect upon your experience of life. It’s time to release what you’ve been subconsciously holding in emotionally, helping to free up your energy. As this is your counselling you will decide how you wish to use your sessions. We’ll agree upon what you personally wish to work on and collaboratively work towards achieving these goals. I work holistically, tailoring your therapy by incorporating different theories and methods to meet your individual, unique needs. Current and former clients describe me as warm, open, empathic, calm, honest and authentic.

I provide a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic space where you can share and explore your problems, worries and fears. I’m interested in you as an individual and the future you want for yourself. Initially, working in the present with your current problems and worries, we will build a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship. As our relationship develops you will learn to open up on a deeper level, allowing you to grow in self-awareness and heal.

I will support you to identify your short and long term goals from counselling, working towards achieving these with regular reviews of our work together.

I can help you with:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Abuse
  •  Bereavement
  •  Stress
  • Relationships
  • Life Transitions
  • Sexuality
  • Mental Health Concerns
  • Communication
  • Parental challenges including neurodiversity and SEND
  • Pregnancy and Birth
  • Identity

To help you to decide if you’re ready for counselling and if I’m the right counsellor for you, I offer a FREE no obligation 30-minute telephone consultation. Taking these first steps considering counselling may feel scary or overwhelming. You can expect a warm and friendly welcome where we’ll discuss your needs and reasons for seeking counselling without judgement in a safe space where you’re free to share anything you chose.

After this initial meeting, you’re under no pressure or obligation to book an appointment as it’s important to me for you to find the right counsellor for you and enter counselling if and when it’s the right time for you. Therefore, I encourage you to speak with a few different counsellors before making your decision. You’ll instinctively feel a connection with the person who’s right for you.

I offer one to one individual online and telephone counselling and psychotherapy, held from the comfort of your own space at a time that is convenient for you:

  • Short term counselling (6-12 sessions weekly)
  • Focused counselling (12+ sessions weekly)
  • Open ended counselling (weekly or fortnightly)
  • Longer term psychotherapy

I work integratively, meaning I incorporate different theories and methods according to your individual, unique needs. I introduce elements of psychoeducation into the therapy to increase your understanding of your behaviours.

Different theoretical approaches which may be incorporated according to your holistic, individual needs, may include:

Integrative
Person centred
Psychodynamic
Transactional Analysis
CBT
Relational
Positive Psychology
Compassion Based Therapy
Psychoeducation
Mindfulness
Breathing Techniques

If you feel we may work together effectively, please contact me so we can start to instigate the therapeutic changes you seek. I look forward to meeting you and starting our positive work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
