About me

Firstly well done for taking this first step to finding someone to help you. Maybe you’ve tried to fix it on your own or maybe other therapy just hasn’t helped…so why should you work with me?

Starting therapy can be nerve wracking so I will strive to make you feel safe, comfortable and welcome. I am a trained and experienced art psychotherapist who will work in partnership with you in a clear and transparent way. I can work online and in person. After we have identified presenting difficulties and goals during the consultation we will then do a period of assessing what is going on for you. We will review regularly to reflect on how the therapy is going and where we want to focus. I can adapt easily to work in a client led or theme based way and also utilise aspects of other modalities such as; mindfulness, EFT, somatic tracking and offer psychoeducation if it will help you such as; the affects of early trauma on the brain, calming the nervous system, attachment etc.

Psychotherapy is really helpful in understanding how your experiences and relationships have affected you. It can also give you time and space to grief and process painful thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe and confidential space. When you understand the “why” to a problem it gives clarity, dissipates the emotional power and it can help find new ways of moving forward to a better version of yourself.

I can work both as a Psychotherapist and an Art Psychotherapist. Art Psychotherapy can help explore difficult emotions and thoughts through an array of creative media. Sometimes words fail us, we don’t know how to express how difficult something felt or we just don’t know where to begin.  It can feel a bit less intimidating as there is less eye contact and can be theme based to steer the therapy if needed. Don’t worry you don’t need to be good at art or even have an interest in art, you just have to be open to trying something new. Through creative expression it can help you to find the words and put meaning to your thoughts, feelings and experiences. If you just want talking psychotherapy, I am flexible to work in this way too.

Psychotherapy can be beneficial in helping you understand why you think, behave and feel certain ways about certain situations and people. It can help understand and heal painful childhood memories and understand how these have affected you. It can help you to express yourself better and identify what you really need and want. This can then improve your relationships and ability to make new ones. You may also find that you feel more empowered and motivated to do what you really want to do, sparking new decisions and life changes.

The first step to deciding if this is for you is to give me a call or an email. We will then arrange a free 15 mins chat to answer any of your concerns or queries and then we will book a consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifying in 2009 I have an MA in Art Psychotherapy and have since worked in various settings including schools, a domestic violence charity, the NHS and taken referrals from the post adoption service and social services. I am HCPC registered, a member of the British Association of Art Psychotherapists, fully insured, DBS checked and registered with the ICO.

I work with adults, young people and children in person in East London and online. When I work with children and young people I can work dyadically (parent and child together). I also offer parenting strategies and help in nurturing attachment. and building a stronger bond.

Sometimes I also draw on other modalities such as mindfulness, somatic tracking, Emotional Freedom Technique and I am also trained in CATT (Childrens Accelerated Trauma Treatment).
