About me

Firstly well done for taking this first step to finding someone to help you or someone you care about. Maybe you’ve tried to fix it on your own or maybe other therapy just hasn’t helped......

So Why Should You Work with Me?

  • I work in partnership with my clients in a clear and transparent way
  • I create a safe, comfortable and welcoming space.
  • I can offer therapy online and in person for adults, young people and children. I can offer just talking Psychotherapy or Art Psychotherapy.
  • I am a trained and experienced art psychotherapist so I have skills at thinking and finding creative ways for exploring and analysing.
  • I adapt easily to work in a client led or theme based way which can help guide the therapy
  • I utilise other modalities such as; mindfulness, EFT, somatic tracking and offer psychoeducation if it will help such as; the affects of early trauma on the brain, calming the nervous system, attachment etc.
  • I think holistically so with my clients we may explore changes that could improve mental health in between sessions.

What are the Benefits of Psychotherapy?

  • Psychotherapy can be beneficial in helping clients explore and understand why they think, behave and feel certain ways about certain situations and people.
  • It is really helpful in exploring how experiences and relationships affect  thoughts and feelings.
  • It slows everything down and gives time and space to grieve and process in a safe and confidential space.
  • It explores the “why” to a problem giving clarity which can help in finding new ways of moving forward.
  • The therapeutic relationship can really help explore difficult dynamics that may have been experienced with parents in childhood.
  • It can help someone express and identify what they really need and want. This can then improve communication and relationships.
  • It can help people fell more empowered and motivated to do what they want to do, sparking new decisions and life changes.

 How is Art Psychotherapy Different?

  • It can help explore difficult emotions and thoughts with less need to find the right words.  "A picture tells a thousand words"
  • A lot of experiences happen to us before we have developed the language to understand them.
  • It can feel a bit less intimidating as there is less eye contact and can be theme based to steer the therapy if needed.
  • Because you don’t need to be good at art or even have an interest in art, it is accessible to everyone who is open to it.
  • Through creative expression it can help you to find the words and put meaning to your thoughts, feelings and experiences. If you just want talking psychotherapy, I am flexible to work in this way too.
  • You also get to take your art making with you at the end as a helpful "visual" diary of the therapy.

What is the Therapeutic Process?

  • We will start with a free 15 mins chat as an intro and for me to answer any questions you might have
  • We then have a 50 min consultation and identify presenting difficulties and goals
  • We book in regular sessions at the same day and time each week.
  • We will do a period of looking at what is going on for you.
  • We reflect regularly in sessions to see how the therapy is going and if we are heading in the right direction.
  • When you feel your goals are met then we work towards an ending.

So What Now?

  • The first step to deciding if this is for you is to give me a call or an email. We will then arrange a free 15 mins chat to answer any of your concerns or queries and then we will book a consultation.
  • You can also check out my website www.citysolacepsychotherapy.com

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you feel better.

Be kind to yourself.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifying in 2009 I have an MA in Art Psychotherapy and have since worked in various settings including schools, a domestic violence charity, the NHS and taken referrals from the post adoption service and social services. I am HCPC registered, a member of the British Association of Art Psychotherapists, fully insured, DBS checked and registered with the ICO.

I work with adults, young people and children in person in East London and online. When I work with children and young people I can work dyadically (parent and child together). I also offer parenting strategies and help in nurturing attachment. and building a stronger bond.

Sometimes I also draw on other modalities such as mindfulness, somatic tracking, Emotional Freedom Technique and I am also trained in CATT (Childrens Accelerated Trauma Treatment).
