About me
I am Joanne, a Counsellor offering a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for adults, young people, and women in midlife. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, relationship difficulties, or the challenges that come with life transitions such as menopause, I’m here to support you at your own pace.
My own personal life experience finds me in a place to offer compassion, I know life as a young person has its challenges and as an adult the obstacles and navigation that takes place can lead to challenges and can sometimes make us feel like we are failing or that we are indifferent because of our own emotional state of mind.
Talking in a space where you feel heard and seen can be valuable to making your own changes, see things differently through reflection and learning to manage your emotions leading to a better understanding of yourself and others.
I understand that midlife can bring unique emotional and physical changes, and counselling can provide a compassionate space to explore these shifts, helping you find clarity, confidence, and balance. I also work with young people and adults facing a wide range of issues including stress, sadness, anger, communication problems, separation, and feelings of rejection or loneliness.
I offer flexible ways to work together, including in-person sessions, online video calls, walk-and-talk therapy, and home visits by arrangement. You can choose short-term or long-term therapy depending on your needs and goals.
My approach is warm, empathetic, and tailored to you — providing a calm environment where you can express yourself openly and work towards meaningful change. Counselling can be a powerful tool to better understand yourself, heal from past hurts, and build resilience for the future.
If you feel ready to take the first step or have any questions, please do get in touch. I’d be happy to hear from you and discuss how I can support you.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
