About me

Hi I am Jo, a qualified BACP accredited therapist based in Weybridge. I work with adults and adolescents 16 year plus either face to face or remotely.

Maybe you are looking for a counsellor to talk about a specific problem, or maybe things just aren’t quite right at the moment. Whatever you are going through, I would like to help. We all encounter problems at some point in our lives and asking for help can be difficult. I believe talking things over with a trained counsellor can make a real difference.

Counselling is a space to organise your thoughts and make better sense of the situation. It’s a space where you can talk, engage and tell your story and gain deeper self-awareness. Being truly heard and understood by a professional can be a first step towards making positive changes in your life.

I work in a person-centred way which simply means I strive to build a collaborative, trusting relationship which will allow you to explore your thoughts, focus on your personal choices and how you might like to move forward.

I believe that everyone is different and unique, and everyone’s issues need different considerations and by offering elements of different approaches we work together to unpick what might be troubling you.

You have already taken the brave step of looking for a therapist, don’t hesitate and contact me with any questions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified accredited counsellor with a Fdsc in Counselling from Greenwich University.

Alongside my private practice for a number of years I have been working as a counsellor for a Young Person’s charity in Guildford who are partnered with CAMHS where I support young adults and adolescents on a wide range of issues. Previously, I was a counsellor at a Women’s support centre. I have also worked for a number of years as part of the bereavement support team at a Hospice offering bereavement counselling and bereavement group therapy.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues. I work according to the Ethical Framework for Good Practice of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy of which I hold accredited membership. Being an accredited counsellor is a quality status which means I am an experienced practitioner who has demonstrated a high standard of competence and ethical practise.  I have a Fdsc in Counselling from Greenwich University and hold an enhanced DBS.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
