Changes in light of COVID 19

In light of Covid 19 following the government guidelines around social distancing I am unable at present to provide face to face sessions but will provide telephone support and online support as I value the importance of individual mental health and well being and in these uncertain times I want to support you with social isolation, help you move through the stages of grief and loss, the feeling of being completely overwhelmed by anxiety and fear. If you need to talk to someone about this don’t feel alone contact me. For NHS and key workers I am happy to discuss reduced rates in this extremely challenging and emotional all time. I can offer sessions in the day and evenings during the current time please contact me via email and we can look what are best for you

The counselling process

The counselling process is time away from your usual daily life where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace in a safe and confidential setting. Part of this process is looking at your past and making links to what is happening in your life now. I am a good listener, emphatic and trustworthy. I understand how difficult talking through traumatic experiences can be, I am here to listen. I will not judge you; I will not make you feel scared to discuss what’s happening around you or how you are feeling during our sessions. The importance of counselling is you feel comfortable to access counselling, you are able to feel comfortable to talk openly to me about how you are feeling and what you are thinking. Sessions are for 50 minutes and these can be block booked or week by week. The first initial session will be free of charge to enable you to see if you connect with me and you feel comfortable to start your counselling journey. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
