About me
I am a child and adolescent psychotherapist expertly trained to work with young people up to the age of 25 years. I work with people who experience a range of issues that challenge mental health including anxiety, depression, deliberate self harm, trauma, bereavement, gender issues, eating and food related difficulties and relationship issues. I work with parents who are concerned about their children and who need a supportive relationship within which to reflect on their parenting and their relationship with their children. I offer brief and long term individual psychotherapy as well as parent/child psychotherapy. Additional to analytic psychotherapy I integrate Mindfulness and Energy Psychotherapy techniques into my work and my training as a craniosacral therapist informs my practice. I have nearly 30 years of specialism in child and family mental health in in-patient and out-patient NHS settings and in independent practice.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained as a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist at the Society of Analytical Psychology and qualified in 2006. I have nearly 30 years of clinical experience in the NHS, in in-patient and out-patient (CAMHS) clinics and independent practice. I was a tutor of Infant Observation and theory seminars on the British Psychoanalytic Foundation MSc at BPF/Birkbeck. I am a supervisor of counsellors and psychotherapists working with young people and supervise child psychotherapists in doctoral training. I have extensive experience working with undergraduate and postgraduate students at UCL and Kings College as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor. My current independent practice comprises intensive and non-intensive individual psychotherapy with young people and parents, both short and long term. I also work with parents and families with a focus on relationships.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The ACP is the registering body for NHS trained Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists. ACP members undergo a minimum 6 year training; two years at Masters level then 4 years full-time clinical in the NHS qualifying in a Doctorate Level course. Full members are able to work with neonates, mothers & babies, parents & toddlers, primary school age children & adolescents. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I am trained as a craniosacral therapist and in Energy Psychotherapy and these inform my thinking about the body mind matrix. I am particularly interested in emotion stored in the body and expressed in physical symptoms.
