Looking for a therapist can feel daunting, especially at a time when you are already dealing with difficult circumstances. Perhaps you are coping with a bereavement or loss, ill health, relationship issues, work stress or questioning your identity. Or perhaps a traumatic event or historic abuse is continuing to have a negative impact.
As a person-centred counsellor my style is gentle and effective. I provide a safe, caring and non-judgemental space to think and talk. I will work hard to understand your life from your point of view. I will listen to and accept your feelings, working at your pace and not pressuring you.
I help clients reassess and readjust and as a result reduce anxiety, combat stress & depression, reduce anger, clarify indecision, increase self-esteem & self-confidence and find a sense of purpose.
I also offer EMDR therapy, beneficial for people coping with trauma, anxiety and phobias. EMDR utilises the natural eye movements usually experienced during sleep and helps the brain properly process the event and develop coping mechanisms.
We'll work together to find the right solutions for you. My aim is to help you feel empowered to take control and change your life for the better.
What Can You Expect?
The first session does not commit you to further appointments. It is a chance for us to meet and see if we can work together. We will discuss what brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it. If you feel comfortable talking to me we'll arrange how often we'll meet. I'm experienced in both short and long term work. I will be guided by you.

Training, qualifications & experience
I have an Honours Degree in Psychology, a Certificate & Diploma in Counselling and have completed the full four-part EMDR Europe Accredited training programme. I have been practising as a counsellor since 2007 and am a Registered & Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have previously worked in the NHS, with MIND (the mental health charity) and at Bedford College of Further Education. I therefore have experience working with varying individual needs, wide ranging age groups (18 years +) and differing social and cultural backgrounds.
