About me

Registered Member MBACP (Accred) and EMDR Europe Practitioner (Accred).

Hi, I’m Ilaria. I’m an accredited counsellor and an EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitisation and Reprocessing) accredited practitioner. I trained as person-centred but I tend to bring into the room a more integrative approach that will be adapted according to the needs of the client.  If you feel impacted by stress and anxiety, low mood and depression, PTSD or if you have experienced any form of abuse including sexual abuse, I might be able to offer some support. I have trained and have experience in working with the impact of sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse. Regardless of what the reason is to come for therapy, I offer a safe and confidential space that will enable your personal growth.

I offer counselling and EMDR to adults (18+). I offer an initial 15-minute consultation over the phone or online if you prefer and I tend to see clients on a weekly basis in-person, online or by telephone, although fortnightly can be agreed upon if this is a better fit for you. If after the consultation or during our work together you don’t think we are the best match, I will try my best to signpost you somewhere else.

Alongside my private practice, I also work for DHC (Dorking Healthcare) NHS Talking Therapies and for Ubuntu Multicultural Counselling Services. I have worked for DRCSAS (Devon Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Services) and with university students at the Wellbeing Centre – the University of Exeter and for the NHS Counselling Service - at Devon Partnership Trust. I also worked in Italy with Against Domestic Violence Services and trained with ADVA (Against Domestic Violence and Abuse) in Devon.

Get in contact to see if I am a good fit for your needs. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sessions are 1 hour long and are £60. I do short and long term work.

I work online (with both counselling and EMDR), telephone (only with counselling) and in-person in Exeter (with both counselling and EMDR). Please contact me for any queries you may have either via email or on 07311973120.

I am able to offer support in English and Italian.

Some concessions are offered, please contact me for discussion.

I am a Registered and Accredited member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and an Accredited member of EMDR UK & Europe and I abide by their ethical codes.

I am also registered with CIGNA (Employee Assistance Programme) - my provider number is 223369.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
