About me

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and able to offer you a safe, empathic, and non-judgemental space in which to speak about your thoughts and feelings.

Counselling is a talking therapy, and when we are troubled, talking is really important because it can be way of reflecting calmly on where you are, processing your experiences, and finding your way. The aim of our sessions together is to help you to become more self-aware, with greater self-esteem and more control over how you approach and react to life.

I am past sufferer from abuse, depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and l understand the value of counselling. I come from an Asian background (Hindu) and understand issues within that culture and between that culture and others. These can affect the way we live and our mental well-being.

I also speak fluent Gujarati.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified as a counsellor at Basingstoke College of Technology and am currently studying for a Masters Degree  in Counselling and Psychotherapy  at Bath Spa university. I am a member of the BACP, and my work is underwritten by its Ethical Framework.

Since the beginning of 2021 l have worked as a volunteer counselling the bereaved and through that l have dealt with many other mental health issues including low self-esteem, feelings of guilt, shame, anxiety, suicide, eating disorders and trauma.

I have completed training with the Youth Justice Team where l am currently working with adolescents.

Outside of this profession l have worked for many years as an accountant, and l have served my community most recently through volunteer work for the NHS Patient Transport Service and as a Vaccine Marshall.

For some thirty years now, l have been involved in the running of various local football clubs in roles that include both Chair and Welfare Officer: all of which has given me much experience in working with children and young adults.

I have undertaken and attended training and have certificates in:

  • Level 2 Counselling Skills.
  • Level 3 Counselling Skills.
  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
  • Diploma in Grief & Bereavement Counselling (Distinction).
  • How to be a Super Learner (Distinction).
  • First Aid for Mental Health (Distinction).
  • Diploma Addiction (Distinction).
  • Diploma Dealing with Depression (Distinction).
  • Enhanced DBS checked

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
