About me

What is counselling about?

Are you feeling anxious, depressed or stressed?  Do you have low self esteem? Do you have communication problems in your marriage? Do you have problems with your relationships? Is your head full of negative and unhelpful thoughts? Do you feel you need help in making adjustments with your life? These are things I can help you with. Taking the first step in reaching out for help is often very daunting, but I will be there to support you. Counselling can lead to exploring other options and choices in your life, whilst uncovering and rediscovering your true and unique qualities, and who you really are. I find my clients notice improvements in their lives after a few sessions.

Who I am and how I work

I am a trained Couples Counsellor (BSC) and  an Integrative therapeutic counsellor (MBACP) working with individual adults (from 18+ and Young People (16+). Working Integratively means that I use and combine elements from the modalities of Person Centred Theory (Humanistic) and Psychodynamic Theory. I have undertaken additional Bereavement training with Cruse. I also have some training in CBT  and Transactional Analysis, and may use elements of these in my practice where useful.  I work collaboratively with my clients to find their individual attributes and strengths. I specialise in working with Couples, Depression , Anxiety, Relationship issues, Bereavement, and Low Self Esteem.

Why come for counselling?

I can help you explore your life, relationships and feelings by listening and hearing you in a different way to others in your life, leading you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself by identifying and changing unhelpful negative patterns. I can help you explore these, in a non judgemental and safe space, building up your inner strength and resilience. I can help you with your relationship difficulties, working with you to find a different way of relating and communicating with your partner, leading to a happier and more fulfilling relationship.

Where I work - Current practices

I currently work at  my private practice based in Binfield Heath, and  at The Cherry Tree Centre in Henley on Thames. I am also trained and qualified to work online and by telephone, and have much experience in this. I offer an individual and professional service to my clients. I am a member of and registered with the BACP, and therefore adhere to their ethics, principles and code of conduct.

I offer a 15 minute free consultation session, without obligation, either online or by telephone. Please send an email here to arrange this.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the CPTA (Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Academy) which is a CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) approved centre, and endorsed by the BACP,  Ofqual and accredited by the Regulated Qualifications framework. I am a registered member of the BACP.  I have a Level 4 (Level 5 European Qualifications Framework) Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative), and a certificate in Couples Counselling from the BCS. I have also completed additional bereavement training with Cruse. I have been practising since the start of 2021, and see a wide age range from 16+. I work at my consultation room in Binfield Heath and also at The Cherry Tree Centre in Henley on Thames. I have previously worked at The Arc Agency in Wokingham.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
