About me
Life can be really hard sometimes and dealing with our problems alone can be challenging. When we are not sure where to turn, it can be helpful to talk to someone other than our friends or family who can listen with no judgement and can offer a different perspective.
When we explore what is going on for us, it makes it easier to understand our situations better. Maybe something from the past is affecting the present or our thought patterns are affecting our relationships or behaviours. When we see our issues more clearly, we can learn to cope with them more effectively and find our own solutions to these issues.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor. I am warm and compassionate. I view the counselling process as a creation between the two of us, building a relationship and working collaboratively together.
My role is to provide you with a safe space for you to share your issues, openly with no judgement. I play an active part by being reflective and curious. I will share theory and focus on empowering you to improve your life in whatever way you feel is right for you.
I use an integrative approach which means I will tailor the work around you, depending on what issues you bring to therapy. I believe you have all the answers and with time to explore your issues, you can make decisions for yourself. I believe people can change and grow.
I am passionate about what I do and believe that although therapy can be extremely challenging and difficult at times, it can also be rewarding and inspiring.
Experience and Qualifications
As well as working with various different issues within my private practice, including stress, anxiety issues and depression. I have a special interest in working with trauma, abuse and PTSD. I have experience of working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse, including childhood trauma and PTSD at The Southmead Project in Bristol.
I also have counselling experience working with perinatal mental health at a Bluebell Trust, which has given me the vital skills to work with Mums who have suffered with various issues from birth trauma, antenatal and postnatal depression and anxiety, to relationships and self-esteem issues.
