About me

Hello, I am an experienced Body Movement Psychotherapist and clinical supervisor providing psychological help for a wide range of emotional issues, specialising in trauma recovery, life transitions and hard to treat persistent physical symptoms. This approach includes and values the role of the body in therapy, and uses vital somatic cues as pathways to healing. I offer short and longer term sessions for both adults and young people in the Gloucestershire and Bristol area. I work online and in person.

I have worked with and helped many people coming to therapy at different stages of their lives, wanting to make sense of where they find themselves now and what their bodies are telling them. Often people come feeling there is an important link between what they are feeling, thinking and the messages their bodies are giving them. It can be hard to understand the significance of these messages, especially when there is suffering and distress involved.

I aim to provide a safe, confidential and accepting space for people to come into, so that they can bring and work with the many different aspects of themselves. This can help to make important links, deepen self understanding and facilitate healing. My approach is integrative and trauma informed, and I bring experience from many different traditions including working outside with nature, dance and other creative practices. I aim to work with the whole person in mind, helping people to find the best way to work with their issues and access resources that help.

I have 30 years’ body work experience, my background stemming from dance and physiotherapy, qualifying in Movement Psychotherapy 2002 & clinical supervision 2016. My Psychotherapy experience includes work with adults, young people and children (CAMHS) within mental health services in the NHS, in education and for many years in private practice. I have worked as a trainer and researcher in the area of persistent medically unexplained symptoms (University of Hertfordshire) and have worked as a supervisor and lecturer on the MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths University London. I supervise psychotherapists, counsellors, Arts Psychotherapists and students in schools, charitable organisations and in private practice.
