About me

I am an integrative counsellor, which means I am trained in several different counselling modalities (CBT, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, and Transactional Analysis). Since every person is unique, I focus on tailoring the counselling experience to your needs, personality and history by using these different modalities to suit you. I have a wealth of experience working with teenagers within the education sector (as a teaching assistant and tutor) and counselling them across several schools. I also have experience working with adults with issues ranging from anxiety and stress to low mood, depression and bereavement. Due to my background, I specialise in working with adults who are struggling to let go of their past (especially their childhood/ teenager years) and to be present and embrace who they are in the here and now. What has happened to you does not need to define who you are now, especially if it is holding you back.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm an accredited member of the NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) and can also be found on the NCPS' Children and Young People's Therapist (CYPT) accredited register. I have been counselling individuals for the past two and a half years. During this time, I have been an employed school counsellor working with teenagers and young people (ages 11-18) in several secondary schools across Nottinghamshire. I also work with adults in private practice (in-person and online).

With a range of experience working in the education sector (as a teaching assistant, tutor and now counsellor), I specialise in helping clients process childhood and teenage experiences so that they can be more authentically themselves and be able to live more in the present moment.

I work with a range of issues such as relationships, anxiety, depression, anger, stress, exam anxiety/ stress, trauma, bereavement and loss, neurodivergence, low self-esteem/confidence, self-harm, suicidal ideation and trauma.

I am here to help you with a kind and reassuring presence and will listen to you with empathy and respect. Honesty is an important part of being a counsellor and I hope we can build a unique relationship where you feel safe to be honest in who you are and what you want from this experience. I'd love to hear from you so, if you have any questions, please get in touch.

Reviews

Here are a few pieces of feedback given by younger clients (under 18) about their counselling experience:

Jodie (anxiety and self-esteem): 'Hanna has been really supportive and has helped me to feel valued and respected.'

Ed (anger, relationships and grief): 'I've now got enough off my chest so that I can restart.'

Here are two reviews from adults I have worked with previously to give you an idea about how I work and what counselling with me could be like:

Alisia (procrastination and confidence): 'It was really great to get the help I needed and work on my main goal (which I achieved) and to organise my mind to work in a productive way. Hanna is definitely extremely skilful in her work!'

Lauren (relationships and self-esteem): 'Hanna was excellent; she created a safe space for me to explore my own views and feelings, whilst maintaining a non-judgemental and supportive approach. All the exercises and information provided during the sessions will last a lifetime! I highly recommend her.'

Additional information

Every person is different and I am happy to tailor your counselling experience with what works best for you. It might be through conversation, a more practical approach (e.g. CBT- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), exploring parts of the self, working creatively or through play.

I offer a free 15-minute phone or video call for our initial consultation. This is a chance to get to know each other, see if we would like to work together, discuss what your areas of need might be and if you have any questions regarding counselling and the service I provide. In terms of counselling sessions (should we agree to continue after the free consultation), each one is 50 minutes long; this is so that I have time at the end to make notes and reflect on the session. This is what's known as the therapeutic hour (usually 45-55 minutes). The cost is £55.00 per session for adults, and there is a 10% discount (£49.50 per session) for undergraduate university students and counselling students.

Alternatively, to book a block of 6 sessions (adults only), you can do so with a £5 discount per session, meaning you save £30.00 when you pay for the 6 sessions together (£300.00 in total). If you would like to book sessions or have any questions regarding this service, please do not hesitate to email or give me a call.
