About me

I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) providing adults, teenagers and children with therapeutic counselling based on the Person-Centred Therapy approach.

I have worked supporting young adults and children both in mainstream Higher, Secondary and Primary education and within Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings with children experiencing social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

I work with both adults and children with a range of presenting issues such anxiety, depression, addiction, abuse, anger management, family issues, feeling sad, stress confusion, low self-esteem, low self-worth, social anxiety, loneliness and feelings of isolation. My therapeutic style is warm, approachable, friendly, supportive and compassionate. I have seen that, given the right conditions, a person can reach their full potential and become their true self.  Making sense of the past, present, and even the future journey, can allow you to focus on living your best life through experiencing a meaningful and happy existence.

Whatever the reason your journey has led you to here I will work with you to unravel your thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgemental space and at a pace that you are comfortable with.

I am fully conscious that clients come from all walks of life and have different needs and goals. It is my hope to create with you a space where you feel comfortable and empowered to ask questions, focus on your issues, and achieve a sense of peace and contentment. There is no one-size-fits all therapy and I will work with you while valuing your individuality.

I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation, either face to face or via a Zoom video call, as a chance for us to explore what you feel you need from counselling and how we could best work together to meet your needs.

Please contact me via the email link at the top of this page or go to my website and use the contact form to enquire about session availability. I offer daytime and evening sessions, Monday to Friday, up to 9pm.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of, and practice within, the ethical framework set by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (https://www.bacp.co.uk/).

I opened my private practice in 2019, offering counselling/psychotherapy to adults and children experiencing a range of mental health issues.  Prior to this I completed a BSc Honours degree in Psychology before going on to gain a Level 4 diploma in Person-Centred Therapeutic Counselling. I attend ongoing training and supervision.

Alongside my private practice, where I work with adults and children,  from around 2016 I have worked as a student counsellor with the Bedford College Group; with students in Special Educational Needs Schools, Colleges, Secondary Education and Primary education.

I have full enhanced DBS clearance for working with children and vulnerable persons.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
