About me
Choosing a counsellor can be a daunting process. I understand this and taking that first step to talk with someone about what brings you to counselling can feel like a giant leap of faith. You may not know exactly what you want but just that you want something to change. I provide a safe and confidential space for you to take that important first steps at a pace you feel comfortable with. I offer short and long term counselling. You may have had experience of counselling in the past and now wish to explore in more depth the issues that were raised then but remain unresolved. You may recognise a pattern or feel you are repeating certain behaviours which may negatively impact on your mental and physical wellbeing. This is something we can explore together.
How I work:
The therapeutic relationship takes time to develop but is the foundation of how we work together. In the relationship, we can address the types of barriers that can hold us back, keep us stuck and ultimately prevent us from achieving what we need and want in order to move forward. I continuously evaluate how we are working together because the idea of a ‘one-size fit’s all’ approach does not work in counselling and therapy.
Diversity, inclusion and a belief in social justice form the core of my counselling practice. I believe counselling should be accessible for all who need it. I have worked as a counsellor within an NHS talking therapy service, community counselling provider and in private practice. I have worked for large organisations and for smaller, voluntary and community charities. I appreciate how being seen, heard and valued in the workplace can often impact our mental wellbeing and physical health.
Other presenting issues I have worked with are, workplace bullying and harassment, childhood bullying, trauma, domestic abuse, sexual violence, forced marriage, disordered eating, family breakdown as a result of addiction and poor mental health, bereavement and relationship difficulties. I am a strong ally of the LGBT+ community as well as, clients with non-binary gender and pansexual identity.
If you feel the time is right for you to start counselling then please email me in the first instance. We can arrange a free no obligation 30 minute initial consultation via video or telephone. I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society
This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations.
In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
