About me
I am both a counsellor and graduate psychologist with 5 years of professional experience of working in a mental health setting. I am an integrative counsellor with training in the person centred approach, transactional analysis, and Gestalt, along with other techniques.
I currently offer remote counselling only, via Teams or Skype. You can contact me on the number provided via phone, text, or WhatsApp. I can schedule appointments for weekdays, weekends or evenings, depending on availability.
I believe in the holistic approach to wellbeing, whereby an individual may wish to combine talking therapies, medical interventions, and lifestyle adaptations in order to find the solution that works best for them. As a graduate psychologist, I can also aid with understanding brain functions and neurophysiology, which can help you to make sense of your own inner world.
As well as my Counselling and Psychology diplomas, I have additional training in working with Phobias, PTSD, Autism, and Living with Long-Term Health Conditions. While working on my psychology degree, I focussed my dissertation on Gender Identity, exploring the journeys of transgender patients navigating healthcare, including non-binary individuals.
In my work in mental health, I have experienced working with most of the common mental health diagnoses, such as depression and anxiety. I also strive to be sensitive to the institutional and social circumstances which can exacerbate human suffering, such as poverty, poor housing, and job insecurity and I am passionate about empowering individuals to overcome challenges even in the face of adversity.
I work to a therapeutic agreement between myself and my client. We will contract initially for six weeks, focussing on one primary problem of the client’s own choosing. Often, as we explore this, it will unlock other areas and experiences which are related. As such, we will look to review progress every six weeks to check you are getting what you want from therapy, refocusing if necessary, in order to provide the best possible care for you on your unique journey.

Further information
Alongside my academic and professional background, I also have experienced my own mental health journey. Prior to qualifying, I spent over two years volunteering as a peer mentor, completing training on how to utilise lived experience in a therapeutic setting.
Despite some progress, stigma around mental health persists, with some patients feeling judged and misunderstood by professionals. While every individual’s journey is different, I find my own experiences empower me to extend empathy and understanding to those living with mental health.
