About me
Are you feeling overwhelmed with anxiety, experiencing low mood, or struggling with relationship issues. Perhaps you have suffered some sort of loss and need support to re-engage with life. Maybe you are stuck, repeating unhelpful behavioral patterns that hold you back and make change difficult.
I'm Dinah, I qualified as a counsellor 12 years ago after my personal experience of therapy left me with a desire to help others as I had been helped. I know how challenging it can be to reach out for support. I was recommended for therapy when I was struggling with grief, but didn't really understand how it could help.
When life is a struggle there is huge benefit in being able to speak freely and confidentially, without fear of judgement, platitudes or unhelpful advice to someone who is warm and wants to understand.
I can help you to find a way through your difficulties by giving you time and space to talk about things; together we can explore your feelings and find a way forward.
Since qualifying in 2014 I have worked for the NHS, several low-cost counselling services and a specialist bereavement service before concentrating on my private practice.
Before training as a therapist, I was employed for many years in a corporate environment so have a good understanding of the pressures of work stress, burn out and difficulties in maintaining work/life balance.
My Integrative training means I can work using a number of approaches in a style tailored to work in a way which best suits you. I am particularly drawn to understanding how our background and early attachments and experiences shape us and continue to affect our behavior’s and relationships in the present day, sometimes on the edge of, or beyond our awareness. Identifying those which no longer serve us well can help us change and live more satisfying and fulfilled lives.
My special interests include relationship difficulties, loss, bereavement and infertility/pregnancy related issues. I am Cruse bereavement trained and a Registered Pregnancy and Infant Loss Specialist with The Foundation for Infant Loss.
Finding the right counsellor for you is the key to successful therapy. It’s really important that you feel safe and comfortable to talk about what is affecting you. I offer a free, no obligation phone call so you can decide if you would like to arrange to meet for an initial session, in person or on-line, I would be most happy to hear from you.

As well as my private practice I have worked for the NHS and also as a volunteer for several low-cost community-based counselling services. Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
