About me

An  accredited  Counsellor/Psychotherapist,  member  of the BACP and qualified counsellor supervisor with experience of working with a wide variety of issues including anxiety and relationship issues. I believe the key to successful counselling is the relationship that is built with the therapist you choose and because of this I offer the first initial online  or face to face session of 45 minutes at a nominal cost of £30 so that  we can discuss your expectations and what you would like from counselling. It is important that you trust in your first 'felt sense' whether counselling feels right for you, discovering if you feel comfortable and at ease with me and my counselling approach. The things that I believe are important are:

* The relationship and trust that builds between client and therapist

* Being heard, understood and not judged

* Feeling safe when sharing concerns

* Gaining a greater sense of wellbeing

As a Humanistic counsellor I believe that we are all unique - and that when we want to make changes in our lives we choose to seek a way of making those changes. It takes courage and determination to acknowledge the need for change and make a decision to begin counselling.

Counselling can help give you the space to explore feelings in an environment that is non judgemental and separate from all that is going on in your life. It can help in relationships or situations that leave you hurt, confused or doubting yourself. It may also help you to cope with events that have completely changed your original hopes of your life. I am happy to discuss any issues or areas which you would like to talk about. I am a caring person providing online and face to face sessions which  last 55 minutes. Providing time and space for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours achieving a greater sense of well-being, building confidence and reaching your own decisions.  My sessions  are  collaborative , exploring together ensuring you feel at ease.

Many times, I have been approached by parents/ carers whom  are struggling or worrying  about young people  (family members). I have found that my many years of experience of working with young people, parents and being a parent has helped me support individuals in such situations; in this situation, you may  wish to book a single sessions and this too can be helpful.

Please contact me if you have any questions or would like  to book an initial  session.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
