About me

I am a professional accredited counsellor and qualified counsellor supervisor with experience of working with a wide variety of issues including anxiety and relationship issues. I believe the key to successful counselling is the relationship that is built with the therapist you choose and because of this I offer the first initial session of 45 minutes at a nominal cost of £30 so that you can meet with me and discuss your expectations and what you would like from counselling. It is important that you trust in your first 'felt sense' whether counselling feels right for you, discovering if you feel comfortable and at ease with me and my counselling approach. The things that I believe are important are:

* The relationship and trust that builds between client and therapist

* Being heard, understood and not judged

* Feeling safe when sharing concerns

* Gaining a greater sense of wellbeing

As a Humanistic counsellor I believe that we are all unique - and that when we want to make changes in our lives we choose to seek a way of making those changes. It takes courage and determination to acknowledge the need for change and make a decision to begin counselling.

Counselling can help give you the space to explore feelings in an environment that is non judgemental and separate from all that is going on in your life. It can help in relationships or situations that leave you hurt, confused or doubting yourself. It may also help you to cope with events that have completely changed your original hopes of your life. I am happy to discuss any issues or areas which you would like to talk about. I am a caring person providing face to face sessions which a last 55 minutes. Providing time and space for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours achieving a greater sense of well-being, building confidence and reaching your own decisions. I am happy to work with adults, adolescents and young children. I am happy to work with /support parent/s or carers whom have concerns re young adults or young people.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
