About me
Hi,
My name is Denise.
I offer talking therapy in a confidential, safe and relaxing environment. It may be easier to talk about personal issues, in an alternative place, with someone who is not involved and is totally non-judgemental.
Counselling is my passion! I believe we were born to be real...not perfect. My belief in the process, how it works and in particular how the working alliance can help you to move forward never stops.
Person Centred Counselling is a non-directive approach. It provides therapeutic support and enables you, the client, to utilise free thinking. It is a highly effective way of personal growth. CBT counselling enables you to examine your thoughts with a behavioural approach.
Having worked extensively with domestic abuse and carers of dementia I feel like my work is taking me down this path. This has led me to somewhere where I can build a therapeutic relationship with you, the client, to explore what it is you want from counselling and to be able to recognise the impact of how this has effected you.
"Feedback received from clients directly has always been of warm regard and in some cases clients have asked to see Denise again"
"I would not hesitate to recommend Denise to work with clients due to her warm and empathic nature".

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Our sessions together will be in an environment where you are free to express any emotions and feelings. This can be with the aim for you to see yourself as a person who can change and has the freedom to do so within the therapeutic counselling process.
Counselling can be useful to explore past and present issues. It can help with many emotions and feelings if you feel anxious, angry, worried, depressed, confused, bereaved or have low self esteem. Using both person centred therapy and CBT therapy collaboratively, once an understanding of how you feel is acknowledged, the actions as to how to change and what to do in order to change, can be transformative.
