About me

Choosing to start or return to therapy usually isn't easy & seeking change can often feel pretty scary. Together, we can explore your thoughts, emotions, and behavioural patterns that may be causing you distress in a secure, non-judgmental, and confidential environment. We will consider both the feelings of the present moment and their connections to your past, fostering a deeper understanding of your experiences.  I will approach our work with empathy, profound understanding, and dedication to your well-being.

The majority of my training was in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, however, recognising the uniqueness of each individual, I often advocate for an integrative approach. I've discovered that models such as Gestalt, Humanistic, and Attachment-based approaches offer diverse pathways in therapeutic exploration. Regardless of therapeutic model, the work we do together will always be underpinned by collaboration and transparency. I have experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, shame, low self-esteem/confidence issues, bereavement and stress management/work related stress.

My practice aims to welcome people from all communities & backgrounds, and I am highly committed to being GSRD (gender, sex, and relationship diversity), TGNB (Transgender & Gender Non-Binary), LGBTQI+ & Neuro affirming, including individuals in non-monogamous relationships and diverse relationship styles. Additionally, my practice also embodies kink-aware therapy.

My professional journey spans working with individuals from varying cultural backgrounds up to the age of 83. This has fostered a deep appreciation for the diverse needs and experiences of individuals, and how these experiences can be both sources of oppression and empowerment. My pledge to acknowledge this includes ongoing self-education and seeking diverse perspectives, without placing the responsibility on you to be the educator. I believe that providing an actively anti-oppressive practice is extremely important.

Through my own experience of therapy, I understand that finding the right fit can be tricky. Therefore, I offer a free 15-minute phone call where we can discuss your aims and hopes for therapy and see if working together feels right.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
