About me

I work with people on an individual basis either for short-term counselling, if you wish to address a specific concern, or longer-term therapy for more complicated problems which may involve looking back to earlier in your life. I will work with you to suit your needs so that you get what you want from the sessions.

I only offer sessions online via Zoom.

How Counselling can help

You may be finding it more difficult than usual to cope with the various problems you are experiencing or you may be feeling more anxious than normal, have become overwhelmed, have feelings of low self-confidence and you may be struggling to know how to make things better for yourself.

Being able to share your feelings in a safe and confidential space can be incredibly helpful. I am both understanding and empathic and we can work together to explore what you are finding difficult and I will support you to find better ways of managing your life.

It can often be really hard to bring about change and talking about what is going on for you, both now and  potentially earlier in your life, can help you to make better choices for yourself and get to where you want to be.

My areas of specialisation

Grief counselling is a particular specialisation of mine; grief is what we feel after experiencing any major loss whether it is following the death of someone significant to you, the ending of an important relationship, the loss of your job or having to move home or country as well as any other form of loss. It may have been traumatic or left you feeling fearful and vulnerable. Loss affects everyone in different ways and there is no right or wrong way to feel.

These experiences can bring up very powerful and often confusing feelings which can be totally overwhelming and difficult to understand on your own. It takes time to make sense of what has happened. I will work with you to help you process your painful feelings so that you can become more at peace with your loss.

Anxiety, depression, panic attacks, low self-confidence may also be linked to loss and grief but can be of course originate for totally different and unrelated reasons.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
