About me

Thank you for stopping by. We all need a bit of help sometimes, someone to listen to you without judgement, without giving unwanted advice, to try to understand how you feel and show compassion.

I appreciate how difficult it can be for you to seek help, especially when feelings of anxiety and sadness may be overwhelming, and that this may be the first time you have sought professional support for the challenges that you may be facing.

Coping with the difficulties of life without someone to turn to can be lonely and isolating. My aim is to work with you and build a trusting and confidential relationship where whatever fears or worries you may be experiencing we can face together.

I draw upon several different theories that inform my approach to counselling, however, the most important factor is our relationship.

I offer both short-term and long term therapy, depending on your needs. We can review this during our work together.

If you would like to find out more about me and how I may be able to help you, then please get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling from the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (C.P.C.A.B) I hold a certificate in working with addictions in clinical practice.

I have counselled a range of clients, many who have sought help with addiction problems. I also work within an addictions charity.

I have experience with helping people deal with the challenges that life can bring, including anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and self-worth, and a range of other presenting problems.

I am committed to continuous professional development to deepen my knowledge and enhance my practice, and I am currently undertaking a further diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
