About me

I offer a safe, non judgemental, private and confidential space for clients. I listen, reflect and facilitate exploration, understanding, acceptance, change and / or growth. I don’t advise but I will offer practical solutions or referrals if needed.

As a counsellor, I take pride in providing a relaxing environment for my clients, where they can be themselves and feel comfortable to explore their thoughts and feelings in their own time. I adhere to the BACP code of ethics.

I am a person-centred Counsellor / Therapist who offers sessions either face to face at my home based practice in Barkingside, on Zoom or over the telephone. I have been trained integratively, so have other therapeutic tools to use if requested.

I work with my clients to build an honest and equal therapeutic relationship where I am alongside them as they work through their experiences and problems.

I work with all kinds of lifestyle and common mental health issues. I have experience of working with survivors of abuse and domestic violence, including childhood sexual abuse, emotional abuse, financial abuse, historic abuse, PTSD, dissociation and all of the resulting trauma.

I also have extensive experience of career and work stress. I have worked in the world of recruitment for many years as a career counsellor and business owner, and have a wealth of knowledge, empathy and understanding with problems in the work place. I am also a Career Coach but please note that this is charged at a higher rate.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I initially offer a free telephone introductory session where we discuss what you are looking for, how I could help, availability and fees. I allow half an hour for this but often it takes less time.

The first full session is charged at a reduced rate of £45, as this is an opportunity for us to explore if we can work together. It is important that clients are able to feel connected with their therapist and feel comfortable and safe in the therapy room, so I invite all clients to have an initial face to face session where possible, to ensure this is the case for them. There on after, my hourly rate is £60.

I offer reduced rates to students and low income households which will be agreed prior to our first session.
