About me

Hello and welcome, I’m Carrie. Does the new year feel like the  right time for you to start your therapy?  Does life feels heavy? Or relationships feel difficult? Perhaps you are finding you are experiencing anxiety in day to day life. Or experiences from the past feel so painful.

Whatever has prompted you to make your way here now, rest assured I provide a non judgemental, confidential and safe space to explore emotions, relationships and life experiences.  We can think about your past and present, creating a feeling of safety and processing the pain.  There is no agenda or way that the sessions “should look,” it is a space for us to reflect and explore whatever you want to discuss. Therapy is a collaborative process and we will work at a pace that suits you. Not pushing you out of your comfort zone but slowly making your comfort zone bigger.  I won't provide the answers but I will walk with you, shining the torch on the path ahead as we embark on the journey to discover them together.

I am a registered psychodynamic psychotherapist offering in-person sessions  at my confidential consulting room in St Albans or Hitchin. Online sessions are also available via zoom. My experience is predominantly working with trauma specifically domestic abuse, sexual violence and adults who have experienced childhood abuse. I aim to create a space of safety in the therapy for us to think about your experiences and feelings.

I also have extensive experience of working with sex workers/adult industry workers and understand that you may feel misunderstood and isolated which is compounded by societies stigma. I am kink aware and sex positive.

Please email me in the first instance and we can arrange a free 15 minute zoom consultation where I can answer any questions you may have and we can see if we are a good fit.

  • Currently studying Doctorate in psychodynamic counselling

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
