About me

Hello, I am Annalisa and welcome to my profile.

Admitting to yourself that you need help is not easy and well done for having taken the first step and reaching out. Whatever you are going through you don't need to be alone. I provide a welcome, safe, and confidential environment in which you can express your emotions and thoughts without being judged. I work with a wide range of clients with issues regarding, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) suicidal ideation, self-harm, depression, addiction, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, abuse, anger management, bereavement, loss, relationships, trauma and many more.  I specialise in helping people identify and achieve their personal goals by coping with the issues that are causing them distress.

My approach

My core therapy is ‘Person-Centred’, but I also include other theories (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to adapt my work in a way that suits you the client and not the therapy to the client as I believe that each person is unique.  I welcome individuals from diverse walks of life, cultural origin, sexual orientation and religious or spiritual beliefs.

How I work

I work online as well as face-to-face sessions in Weston Super Mare. I offer 30 minutes online introductory session to discuss your issues, concerns and expectations. This will assist in the start of the therapeutic relationship and to gain a feel of how we get on and if you would like to work with me. This is your journey and it is important that you decide the therapist that feels right for you. If you choose to continue therapy with me, the next sessions will be weekly at the time agreed (online or face-to-face). I provide long term as well as short term counselling and each session last 60 minutes.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
