Anna Barnes MBACP, Dip Couns, BScOT.
Here you will feel welcome, heard and safe. I am a qualified and experienced therapist providing understanding and non-judgemental counselling sessions to help and support you.
You will set the pace and together we’ll find a way forwards that makes your life feel better. I will support, listen, and help so it will feel like you are having a relaxed and useful meeting with yourself.
I believe in individuality and empowering you in who you are and the decisions you make.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have nine years’ experience as a Counsellor working with teenagers and adults, and prior to that was a Senior Occupational Therapist working in a variety of health settings with all ages from three up.
I have worked alongside members of the armed forces and have experience providing a confidential space for staff who value a safe and ethical ear to talk to about their work.
This background gives me experience of a wide range of emotional health issues, illnesses and disabilities. I appreciate how difficult and challenging life can be, even when all appears to be going well to outsiders.
Areas of counselling I deal with
- Anger management
- Attachment disorder
- Body dysmorphic disorder
- Carer support
- Child related issues
- Chronic fatigue syndrome/ME
- Eating disorders
- Hearing voices
- Learning difficulties
- Low self-confidence
- Low self-esteem
- Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Passive aggressive behaviour
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Pregnancy and birth
- Relationship problems
- Sex problems
- Suicidal thoughts
- Work-related stress
I charge £50 for a 50 minute session.
I suggest a short conversation on the telephone, followed by an initial consultation session. There is no commitment to book further sessions, what matters is that we are a good match.
The first session will be paid for prior to meeting. Subsequent sessions will be paid for one week in advance.
Discounted block booking available for schools and organisations.
I have a light and calm, purpose built therapy room in a quiet area. Access is via a few steps across gravel. I regret that the door is narrow and not suitable for wheelchair access, and I am unable to offer bathroom conveniences.
