About me

I work in a Person-centred way, offering you support and understanding.  I offer warm and friendly approach to my work.  No matter what you are feeling or thinking, together we can explore your present difficulties. Anxiety, depression, grief, relationship problems, to name a few.
I have worked in NHS counselling service for 2 years.  I also have worked and continue to work with local charitable organisation supporting Counselling services.

What to expect in your first session

First steps can be daunting!    Feel free to e-mail me as the first step in introducing your needs with any clarity or concerns you may have about Counselling.   I welcome any questions about what difficulties you are experiencing at the moment.  It will be confidential and treated with respect and understanding.  I know how difficult it is to make the first steps to getting help.  It takes courage, bravery even when that is not felt. Everyone deserves the right to fulfil their full potential in life and together we can go on a journey of your self-discovery that informs change.

I can support you in a Therapeutic, Safe, Confidential environment in which you can explore and share your feelings at a pace that suits you. Building a therapeutic relationship is important. As an Integrative Counsellor I draw upon a wide range of different approaches to suit your individual needs.   My person-centred approach sees you as a ‘Whole Person’.  Mind/Body/Spirit.   I believe that every individual can find their own answers within themselves. I can support you on your journey of self –discovery.

How Counselling can help

Relationship family & Work Issues   - Bullying -   Trauma   -   Abuse - Anxiety - Depression - Grief & Loss - Stress

I offer,

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy focusing on your mind aspect of self. Negative or faulty thinking patterns.
  • Solution-focused Therapy  -  work/life related stresses
  • Gestalt Therapy  -  helping to immobilize and express stuck emotional feelings

A combination of all therapies can be used depending on your individual needs.  Coping strategies to help with Anxiety/Stress and Depression, self-esteem are a few difficulties that may be affecting your every-day life.

Together, I can support you through your ‘Journey of Discovery’ whether it is for short term therapy, focusing on a particular need.  Or longer term therapy, focusing on the underlying issues, you may have experienced, i.e. Trauma, relationship/family issues or want to work on understanding your self better.

I provide a confidential environment and offer the space in which you can explore and try to understand, make sense of, your own difficulties. Together we can find new coping strategies that helps you to find a way forward to cope with every day life experiences.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
