About me

Deciding to talk to someone about our worries or troubles can be a really daunting experience and finding the right person is so important. Why don't you give it a go? I am a good listener and I want to hear from you.

I am an experienced, empathic and supportive psychodynamic and integrative therapist. I offer a warm and non-judgemental environment where no problem is too great or too small - what I am interested in most is how it affects you. I work with clients from a variety of different backgrounds and of different ages, struggling with a wide range of issues, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, addiction, bereavement, relationship struggles, trauma, abuse, self-harm, confidence issues, low self-esteem or stress. I am particularly passionate about working with parenting concerns, as well as with issues related to the perimenopause and the menopause and with areas linked with health, fitness and general well-being.

My approach is based on the belief that our past (from our very early childhood onwards) has a great influence on our present, the way we respond to situations and how we interact with others. So, in our sessions together I will encourage you to look at your past as well as at your present and to consider the way you have related to others throughout your life.

My role is not to judge you, to give you a diagnosis, and even less to tell you what to do. Rather, I will be there to listen to you and to support you in listening to yourself in order to understand your behavioural and emotional patterns. Self-discovery is a journey that is not always easy, and indeed, sometimes it may be quite painful: however, it will be fully worth it, and growth will come from it.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
