About me

Caring for our emotional well-being is essential, yet asking for help for some can feel like a really hard thing to do.

Hello and thank you for viewing my profile. There maybe many different reasons as to why you are considering counselling. You might be experiencing low mood or anxiety, Struggling to communicate with those close to you or a particular member of your family, You may have suffered a bereavement that you are trying to make sense of or just in need of some extra support at this time.

If so, I encourage you to call, text or email me for an informal no obligation chat about how I could help and if I feel like a good fit for you and your needs. I encourage you to ask questions to ensure you feel comfortable before booking an appointment.

I have 20 years’ experience and I am dedicated to providing counselling in a down to earth, relaxed setting with the strong belief that one of the key elements to positive outcomes is the relationship between the client and counsellor. I will work in a way that works for you, whether that is as an individual, or couple. My approach is to offer you a safe non-judgemental space to be seen and heard, to enable you in your own time to talk through what it is that has brought you to Counselling. I pride myself in being a sensitive, but straight talker.

Experience

I am a qualified integrative counsellor registered with the BACP. My Counselling experience and training is diverse and includes, general counselling, adult and young people’s 16+ grief and couples work. I have extensive training and experience working with grief and loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm and communication issues within families. I am trained in systemic family therapy, MHFA.
One of my specialist areas is working with those who have been impacted by the death of a baby/child. I have 20 years experience in this area.

My experience also extends to working with broader issues such as sadness, stress and relationship issues.

I am particularly passionate about working with and supporting young people 16 + who may need some time out and help to try and understand their thoughts and feelings.

I offer both short and long term therapy to suit your needs.

I am committed to making a difference to my client’s lives. I promise with a warm respectful and down to earth approach I will support you to make the changes you feel are impacting or consuming your thoughts.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
