About me

I am a Muslim therapist who understands your struggles to find a counsellor who you can connect with and show your true self to. I want you to be able to share your positive and negative experiences so we can work together through your difficulties. Although therapy can be challenging, I am here to listen and support you through your journey, even if this means repeating the same situation multiple times. If it matters to you, it matters to me. I am here to work collaboratively with you at your pace, and to support your self-development. We will work holistically, taking into consideration your views, background, and experience.

I work integratively, combining different therapeutic approaches and perspectives to suit your individual needs, whilst offering a warm, compassionate, and safe space to explore your experiences and subconscious thoughts. We can interactively engage with your inner truths and therapy goals by reflecting and working creatively.

The most important aspect of therapy is the relationship and connection between you and I. I would like to create a warm, welcoming environment by demonstrating empathy and understanding, in a non-judgemental manner. I want to see you work towards being your true self, and together, we can explore the feelings you're experiencing and change for the better.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over 8 years of experience working in different counselling services alongside being a qualified youth worker working with a wide range of individuals with various struggles. I have studied integrative counselling and psychotherapy (MA) - BACP Accredited at Leeds Beckett University and my undergrad in Psychology and Counselling (BSC).

I also have had training to work with Muslims who need support from an Islamic perspective when in therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I am an integrative counsellor who draws on various approaches as and when it feels helpful. The main issues I deal with are different forms of abuse, issues around identity, family, spirituality, conflict, depression, anxiety and self-confidence struggles. I like to collaborate on a plan to ensure your therapy needs and goals are met.

I blend different approaches to tailor to your needs as everyone is unique. The main approach used throughout sessions is person-centred, alongside psychodynamic, solution-based, mindfulness, creative therapy and CBT techniques. These approaches help look at the here and now and the past to understand and recognise patterns and triggers bringing the subconscious to the conscious mind.
