About me

Hello and welcome,

My name is Alex. I have over 14 years of experience working with individuals and groups in various capacities.

I believe that it's important to get the right support when life isn't going so well...

I also believe that all of us carry pain within and occasionally find ourselves in dark woods and therefore we shouldn’t feel any shame or judgment in discussing our life experiences.

My journey to becoming a therapist began as a direct result of my personal therapy and seeing how beneficial and life-changing it was for me.

I am convinced that the most important factor in therapy is the trusting therapeutic relationship. Therefore I offer compassion and a non-judgemental attitude as a starting point to meet each other.

As an integrative practitioner, I draw from several different therapeutic approaches and psychological theories to tailor an approach that will suit your needs and allows us to work together.

I use a psychodynamic lens to explore your current difficulties - for example how you feel about yourself or others – which may be strongly influenced by past experiences and early childhood relationships. In doing so, unhelpful thinking, feeling and behaving patterns can be fully understood to create a space for meaningful change.

I will try to look at the bigger picture to help you navigate through the complexities of modern relationships. The aim is to reduce internal conflict, and regain a sense of connectedness and intimacy, as well as help you to strengthen your understanding of yourself and your relationship with the world around you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

If you’re interested in working together then send me a message, and I'll contact you to introduce myself and arrange a free 15-minute consultation

Our first session is an opportunity to discuss what your goals are and what you wish to work on.

The first session allows us to discuss the challenges you are facing, get to know one another, and explore your expectations from therapy. There is no obligation to continue as it's important you feel comfortable that I am the right match for your needs.

I encourage you to ask as many questions. Your feedback offers me guidance to ensure I am on track and meeting your needs.
