About us

If you are looking for counselling in Newark and the surrounding region, I am available for an initial (and free consultation) to discuss your thoughts and circumstances. I am a partner in an established counselling service called Active Listening Therapies, we provide counselling for young people (over the age of eleven), adults and people caring for a loved one. I have over ten years experience of working with separation, grief and loss, pre-bereavement, autistic traits, life challenges and a wide range of emotional difficulties.

Every client is unique, so there is no ‘off the shelf’ plan. I work in an integrated way ensuring you feel comfortable, listened to and validated. We can work toward realistic goals while also making sense - and managing the situation you are dealing with.

We are an established service; having launched in 2017 I have helped many clients navigate their difficulties, working toward positive outcomes. In our working relationship, you won’t be judged. You will be offered a positive frame of reference to help you develop your self-focus, coping mechanisms and new ways of thinking.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a level five diploma diploma in counselling, having graduated in 2015 from Lincoln College. I also have CPD qualifications in autism, suicide awareness and working with young people.

Having worked in retail and restaurant management for ten years, I began my therapeutic career working within a school environment for young people on the autistic spectrum. During my counselling training I gained my clinical placement hours at Newark Mind and The Children’s Bereavement Centre in Newark. Following my graduation, I continued to gain one-to-one client hours at CASY.

In 2017, I created - and launched Active Listening Therapies. It has since developed into a successful and well-known practice in the region. Since 2020 we have worked full time, with myself and my husband who is also a fully qualified counsellor, to support clients through their difficult journeys. In addition to seeing clients one-to-one, we also manage a counselling service within three academy schools.
