About me

I offer in-person sessions from my office in Croft Myl, just outside Halifax town centre, as well as remote sessions over Zoom.

As an integrative therapist, I will collaborate with you to tailor our sessions to best meet your needs in the time we have together. You may have something specific that you want to explore your feelings about in a confidential space, for example a relationship in your life or a major change that you are struggling to adjust to. You may have a sense that something is not quite right, and want to explore your past and your ways of relating to others to try to find answers.

Our sessions can be a private holding space for difficult emotions, a place to use creativity to explore your inner world, or an opportunity to explore and challenge the things that you feel are holding you back from happiness and fulfilment. I work with warmth, integrity and honesty. I will provide a space for you to talk and process, and support you through the difficult emotions that this may bring up, and I can also help you to identify how you can make realistic changes in your life to support your psychological wellbeing, and, if appropriate, provide relevant information and insight that may help you gain a deeper level of self-knowledge, which often leads to greater self-confidence.

There are some issues which I am particularly equipped to support with, but I am not limited to these, and overall I will work with you as a whole person, whatever issues you choose to bring to therapy. However, my current role counselling patients and families in a palliative care hospice has given me particular experience in supporting clients experiencing bereavement, pre-bereavement, and terminal illness. I am also skilled in working with anxiety and depression, relationship problems, and in working with young people on building self-esteem and gaining the confidence to achieve their goals.

If you are interested in working with me, call or text me on 07454 834000, and we will arrange a time for a twenty minute introductory phone call, where we can talk about what you would like to work on in therapy and I can answer any questions you may have. A good relationship between client and counsellor and the right fit is vital for effective therapy, so I encourage you to make contact with several practitioners before making a decision. If you then decide that you would like to work with me, we will arrange a time when we will meet weekly at my office in central Halifax.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
