About me

Hello - I’m Abbie , thank you for stopping by my page . I offer one-to -one therapeutic counselling sessions. My private practice is in a quiet village location , a short distance from St Neots, Bedford & Huntingdon.

Do you need a settled place to talk and off load - for someone to truly listen without judgement ?

Life can throw some difficult and challenging experiences our way , leaving us feeling overwhelmed at times and trying our best to find ways of coping . These experiences can range from significant events in your life to more day to day stresses . You might be experiencing some of the following -

  • feeling stuck with what direction to take next
  • trying to cope with experiences of loss or trauma in your life
  • finding it difficult to feel motivated or find a sense of enjoyment in life
  • feeling anxious or perhaps unwanted thoughts have been troubling you
  • you may be trying to navigate difficult relationships - either in your personal or work life
  • or perhaps for no known reason , you just don't quite feel yourself at the moment , which can sometimes lead to us feeling isolated , confused and frustrated

What can counselling help with?

As a person-centred therapist, I provide a warm and supportive environment where we can work together to address the challenges that you are experiencing.

Everyone’s journey is unique to them and my belief is that the client’s individual needs should always be at the very heart of the process - with a trusting therapeutic relationship being key.

Together we can work at a pace that feels comfortable for you , enabling you to safely explore your experiences and develop the tools and understanding of self to support your well-being,  helping you live life in a more fulfilling way and overcome the barriers you are facing .

What types of issues can you help with?

I am experienced in working with both adults and young people on a one-to-one basis and with a range of presenting concerns and issues, including the following -

  • feelings of low self-esteem
  • anxiety and depression
  • loss and bereavement
  • relationship/workplace difficulties
  • childhood trauma
  • intrusive thoughts
  • family difficulties

As a registered member of the BACP, I work in accordance with the professional standards set out in the Ethical framework.

What types of sessions do you offer ?

I offer face-to-face sessions in a quiet village location with accessible and free parking and ground floor facilities. I also offer online and telephone appointments.

What can I expect from my first session ?

I understand that counselling can feel like a daunting process to start, especially when we might not be familiar with talking through the way we feel or even what to first expect. I will help you to feel at ease from the very start and will always strive to work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

During your first session we can discuss what you are currently going through and any hopes and goals you might have from counselling . Some clients are not sure of any specific goals but just want to share what they are feeling in a safe space and see where this takes them . Please feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have.

I truly believe that counselling can be one of the most valuable investments we can offer ourselves and I look forward to accompanying you on your journey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
