About me
Hello and welcome.
It can be daunting to know if you are doing the right thing for you/your relationship. That you are here is an indicator that you are seeking some support, some understanding and clarity of what's going on for you at this time.
My name is Abi, let me tell you a bit about what I offer in my practice:
In personal therapy, I strive to feel what life is like for you, from your perspective. Working to identify the unique goals you envisage achieving from the experience. My role as your counsellor is to be your companion on that journey. Together, we'll work through some of the places that seem a bit too much for you to face on your own. No matter what emotions you experience, you will not be alone with them - not this time.
In relationship/couples therapy, I offer a place where your relationship is the focus. Through working with you both (any relational dynamic eg: partners, siblings, parent and adult child etc) and by modelling respect, empathy and boundaries, we will have a look at what once worked really well. Understand what the fog is that sits between you, and together try to clear that mist and build new systems so that you can get back on track.
Take Care,
Abi

- CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies

To support and extend my training, I have focused on and completed the following courses:
Working Virtually with Clients (online and telephone support)
Anger
Inner Child
Bereavement Counselling (Cruse)
Mindfulness and Breath Work
Trauma on the Brain

I strive to support clients (both Individual and couples) with an integration of counselling modalities including Person Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis, CBT and Psychodynamics. From this, I share my observations and tailor my interventions to best suit their endeavours.
In couples work, I work with a Systemic focus. Seeking to understand the relationships authentic destination. That may be to rebuild parts of that system or to work toward an amicable ending.
Part of my practice involves working with the Police Firearms Officers Association and Victim Support.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
