Jean M Buck
I deeply respect that for most people, contacting a Counsellor takes a great deal of courage.
Accredited as a BACP therapist I offer both long and short term confidential therapy to couples, individuals, primary school children and adolescents.
Appointments are during the day and most evenings Monday - Friday.
I have practiced as a BACP accredited Counselling Psychotherapist in various organizations including a local GP surgery and Place2Be for many years but have worked independently since April 2006.
Possible issues about which people need to talk include: addictions, anxieties, bereavement (sometimes due to suicide, still birth, miscarriage and abortion) childhood abuse, depression, domestic violence, relationship issues, suicidal thinking and school/work related stress.
My work with addictions is based on the 12 Steps and drawn from a programme initiated within the Priory Group.
I am qualified with CareConfidential to counsel people struggling with Post Abortion Syndrome.
I am an approved Counsellor with BARNARDO'S ADOPTION Agency - offering counselling to anyone who has been affected by the issue of adoption or fostering.
Children and young people bring their own world of situations: compulsive hand washing, bullying, hair pulling, confusion about parent disagreements, silence concerning abuse, anxieties about sexual relationships and a general sense of feeling 'lost'. This list is by no means exhaustive, so please ring 07704 000 857 for more information.
In April 2011 I concluded volunteering one day each week ( for 7 academic terms ) counselling children at a Primary School in Harlow. I was privileged to offer more than 200 hrs working with children aged 5 - 11, mostly one to one but also in groups.
Although the majority of my work is with adults, over the last few years there has been a substantial increase in the number of children and young people who come to see me privately. I have recently refurbished a larger consulting room in order to accommodate a separate area for children. Ring me: 07704 000 857 if you are concerned about your child or teenager.
My husband and I are trained foster carers and have fostered long term.
I am a practising Christian and worship regularly at a local church.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
