About me

Faith is Taking the First Step.

Have  you had a  a change in circumstances?  experiencing trauma, current, and historical? breakdown in relationships? depression, extreme sadness as a result of loss of a significant other or possession? or maybe you don't have any of the above, but something just doesn't feel right.  Anxiety, sadness or confusion can arise as a result of these,  as well as other complex emotions that you cannot quite comprehend, linked to other aspects of your life.  These emotions may be affecting your behaviour and impacting on your ability to function well on a day to day basis.

Whatever that may be, I can help you to work through those feelings  and enable you to make a decision that's best for you.  Talking to a stranger can be difficult but helpful, and once you learn to trust me, and trust the process, you will begin to work through those feelings, and the issues connected to those.  Being heard  is  key, for many may listen, but don't hear.

Client's I have worked with say that they have been helped, that they have gained a new perspective to deal with their issues, and that it feels good to be heard. I'm counselling because I want to help people.  I can empathise, with a range of emotions that many people are left with as result of life's challenges, and with a range of skills, theory, and experience, along with the therapeutic relationship, we can work together to help you.

I am a deeply reflective person, and will help you to do the same, because I believe reflection enables growth.

As you process your thoughts and feelings in the sessions, I will apply the appropriate theory and practice in order to help you facilitate change. Many people find that taking the first step to seek counselling is often a very difficult one, but once taken, the journey has started that will begin to lead you on to emotional, mental and physical well-being. You will be empowered to make the changes to manage the situations in your life.

I can see you at a mutually convenient time soon after contact.  l also offer telephone counselling, and WhatsApp video counselling; both are reliable and work well for the clients I am currently working with. You will be given the same undivided attention as if we were working face to face.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
