About me

I offer a confidential, empathic space, either outdoors, online or on the phone, in which you can explore your issues and worries. Supporting you to recognise and build on your own strengths and resources.

Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, confused or low about issues in your life. Counselling can allow you space to explore this, giving you a chance to build a better understanding of yourself and your relationships.

My main training is Integrative, which means that I am able to draw my theoretical knowledge from three main counselling approaches, cognitive behavioural, humanistic and psychodynamic. I work with this knowledge, offering counselling that emphasises the importance of the relationship between client and counsellor whilst using skills and techniques that are appropriate for each individual.

I can also provide outdoor therapy. All outdoor sessions take place in areas that are known to me and I have previously visited to assess suitability and any risks. Before an outdoor session can be booked an online one needs to take place.  To discuss your suitability for outside work, goals for the therapy and an opportunity to see if we both feel comfortable working together.  I'm outdoor first aid trained and insured to provide outdoor counselling.

  • Walk and Talk- A counselling session that takes place at a suitable location outside. These sessions take a similar format to indoor work, in terms of the focus being on the client’s therapeutic work. But with the advantage of being in the natural world.
  • Eco Therapy-I can also provide therapy that is embedded in nature, focusing on your own nature connection and personal experience of the natural world.  Working with specific nature-based techniques and exercises.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
