About me
Hello. I have 30 years of experience working as a counsellor and psychotherapist with individuals and with couples. My aim is to create a safe confidential setting where you can explore the issues troubling you.
My approach is Person-Centred and Humanistic, this means that I will not judge you, but will try my best to understand you and work with you to find more positive ways of dealing with life. It is important that you feel that you set the agenda, so that we talk about the areas that really matter to you. You can explore your concerns and I will support you in dealing with the challenges you are facing; I will work with you to help you to find the best way forward.
I have Counselling and Psychotherapy and EMDR experience working in the NHS, in major charities and in private practice. I have held senior positions in London based addiction service and in rape and sexual abuse services, I am a qualified and experienced Relate Couples Counsellor. I train and supervise other counsellors for organisations such as MIND, the Metanoia Institute, CPPD Counselling School and the NHS.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy which means that I am accountable to their professional and ethical standards. More information can be found on the BACP website.
I respect and celebrate diversity and value each individual as a unique human being, I aim to understand and support you whatever your background or beliefs.
I have wide experience of working with client's in the sports and entertainment industry, including those with high media profile. I am able to discuss the option of home visits where necessary to protect privacy.
How I Can Help
At times we all experience difficulties in our lives - stress, depression, anxiety, low confidence and low self esteem are common in today's world, these are issues people face in everyday life. This does not mean we should shoulder these burdens alone. Many of us find it beneficial to share our thoughts and feelings with a supportive professional.
I specialise in relationship issues including relationships with partners, friends and work colleagues and family issues. Many people want to work on finding a relationship and others want to work through relationship problems including affairs, betrayals, infidelity, problems with sex and intimacy, separation and divorce. You do not have to be in crisis to come to couples counselling; many couples find couples counselling helpful to negotiate ways of improving their communication and negotiating periods of change and enhancing their relationship.
I have worked extensively with clients who have experienced childhood sexual abuse; individuals abused in institutional settings, within family groups, and trusted people with authority as well as individuals abused by strangers.
Addiction is another of my specialisms, I have extensive experience of working with clients with alcohol and drug problems, gambling, smoking, sex addiction and other addictive behaviours.
I'm experienced in working with child related issues such as pregnancy and birth, post natal depression, adoption, miscarriage and abortion. Many people come for couples counselling when their relationships are impacted by issues related to fertility or parenthood.
Bereavement effects us all at some time in our lives; the loss of a family member, partner, child, parent, friend or someone else in our lives is a very difficult experience and many people feel a great benefit from bereavement counselling. I also offer pet bereavement counselling - often people underestimate the impact of the loss of a beloved animal.
Coping with illnesses such as living with cancer and other serious conditions can feel very isolating, often counselling can be of great value to the individual and/or to their loved ones.
I work with many people who have deep seated issues and many who simply need to reflect on the trials of modern living.
How long we will work for
I offer long and short term individual therapy; my sessions are 50 minutes long. Most people see me on a weekly basis. We will continue to work together for as long as you need. Your needs in therapy will be unique to you and how long we see each other is dependent upon this. Some people come to therapy on a short term basis and others find it more beneficial to remain in therapy for longer. Counselling and Psychotherapy offer you a space to explore any issues that are troubling you.
The Next Step
You can contact me via email or telephone. If you would like to speak to me in person, please call 07740867724 and leave me a message. I will get back to you promptly. People often feel anxious about the first meeting, or have questions they would like to ask and it can help to relieve the anxiety by speaking on the telephone beforehand.
By considering therapy you have already taken the first step to helping yourself to make positive changes, be brave and take the next step to improve your health and happiness

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I specialise in couples counselling and currently work for Relate.
I will help you to be honest with each other about your needs and expectations, and to negotiate how you might each work to improve your relationship.
It may be that you're not sure if you want to stay in your relationship, or you may be quite certain that you want to separate. Either way we can use the sessions to explore how you can cope with the difficult feelings you may be experiencing.
I also work with individuals who wish to explore relationship issues.
I specialise in addiction issues and spent many years as the Senior Clinician at a London based addiction treatment centre.
Trauma, abuse, stress, depression, low self esteem and childhood issues are other areas that I have specialist training and experience in working with.
I currently work in the NHS offering individual, couple therapy and group facilitation.
