About me

Hello, I am a fully qualified and accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with over 18 years professional experience. I work with people in ways that are matched to their individual needs, with warmth and compassion. I use skills and training from humanistic, existential and CBT models. I am also an EMDR practitioner. I provide a space in Shirley, Southampton and just off the M27 Motorway in Hedge End both with free parking.

How I can help

Sometimes in our lives, we feel overwhelmed or stuck, this can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, low self esteem and meaninglessness. This can impact confidence in work, relationships, parenting, how we care for others and how we care for ourselves. I help people find clarity and peace through life's challenges, so they can make positive decisions about their lives. I work with issues from an understanding and a problem-solving mindset, using a wide range of acquired strategies and methods that are effective and make sense for you.

Issues I help with

I am experienced in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, neurodiversity including ADHD and ASD, bereavement, relationships and family issues, addictions, low mood and feeling sad, and many other of life's challenges. I am registered with AXA Health, Vitality Health and Aviva Healthcare.

I know that starting therapy is a nerve-wracking yet brave step, one that starts you on a journey to taking control of your situation. Please get in touch for a free initial consultation where I can explain how I might be able to help you in more detail.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
