About me

We all struggle to deal with poor mental health at some time in our life. I believe that during these difficult times, it can be really helpful to have the space to reflect on your own situation and allow yourself some time to put yourself first and consider what you want.

Many people come to counselling because they feel that they want to have a better understanding of something or make changes to their life. You may not know what it is that you want or how you want to go about it, but you are probably feeling that this is the time for changes to happen.

With a compassionate and empathic approach, I will offer you the opportunity to be heard in safe, confidential surroundings, whether that be when meeting face to face, online or while we walk and talk.

I am a fully qualified, integrative, therapeutic counsellor, which means that I use a combination of Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Transactional Analysis theories to enable you to receive a personal and humanistic approach, ensuring that you are at the heart of our working relationship. Talking about what is happening and your thoughts and emotions can provide you with the space to process what you are experiencing and create change.

I am committed to providing a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and concerns without any judgment and to being the best that I can be so that you receive a professional and unique service in which you will be able to develop a good understanding of self and explore who you want to be.

My Experience

I have over 30 years of experience working with individuals dealing with grief and anxiety through loss and bereavement. You may be feeling the loss of a relationship or a lack of belonging, and the grief that this may bring can be immense and difficult to identify. Feeling listened to can help to heal pain and enable you to recognise what is most important to you. Working together, I am able to offer the opportunity to be heard in safe, confidential surroundings, whether that be when meeting face to face, online or while we walk and talk.

Disability has been a large part of my professional life and enabling individuals to gain a better understanding of their needs and the impact that it has on them and their family has been immense.  Providing the opportunity to share your experience and talk about what is happening for you, including your thoughts and emotions, can provide you with the space to process what you are experiencing.

Recent experience has given me the opportunity to work with people who are dealing with addiction and recovery as well as individuals in the prison environment, offering respect, equality and fairness to all. I am skilled at recognising the trauma and pain that you may be dealing with and together, we can look at the tools that you may need to encourage positive change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
