About me
During our lifetime many of us will encounter times that impact on our quality of life. For some this may be in the form of mental health and wellbeing difficulties. For others it may be the challenges of living with ADHD or ASD. Increasingly people are taking the time to invest in themselves when they are taking that next step in their career or making an important life decision.
As a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist, I offer specialist services tailored made to match your individual needs and designed to support you in reaching your personal goals.
Since qualifying in 2003 I have trained in a wide range of evidence-based psychological therapies. I have specialised in therapies that are effective and that empower people to master the tasks of personal change and growth. I am an accredited EMDR practitioner, an accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Therapist and Supervisor and I have a level 3 qualification in IFS informed EMDR.
I understand that engaging in therapy is a significant investment in yourself and your wellbeing. During our initial sessions we will focus on gaining an in-depth understanding of what you would like to achieve and begin to unpick the psychological patterns which are keeping you stuck. Working within evidence-based therapies we will work together towards attaining your own personal goals. Throughout the therapy I will focus on ensuring you feel contained, understood, empowered and most importantly, safe.
Training, qualifications & experience
Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2003 I have worked within the NHS for 20 years in senior roles developing services across the life span. I have a wide range of expertise and a wealth of experience. This experience has been enriched by the extensive training I have undertaken in evidence based psychological therapies.
In addition to my doctorate level training in offering psychological services and therapies, I am an accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapist (CAT) and an accredited CAT supervisor. I am also an accredited EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming) practitioner, and I have a level 3 qualification in IFS (Internal Family Systems) informed EMDR through the Syzygy Institute.
I am an associate fellow of the British Psychological Society and I have served on the executive committee for the Division of Clinical Psychologists' executive committee. This is the professional board which represents Clinical Psychologists at a national level and is part of the British Psychological Society. Prior to this position I was a director of the Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT). On stepping down as director I became a member of ACATs Ethics Board. I have also been a visiting lecturer at the UEA, Hertfordshire University and the ARU teaching on their Doctorate Clinical Psychology and Child Psychology Masters Courses.

EMDR UK
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
The Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) is a registered charity. They welcome members of the public, health professionals, ACAT accredited professionals, and anyone interested in finding out more about CAT. They list CAT practitioners.
