About me

Hello, my name is Victoria, pronouns she/her. I am an integrative counsellor, and an registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists).

How can counselling help?

I recognise that difficult emotions can feel overwhelming and hard to look at, while simultaneously carrying the ability to be cathartic and freeing. As your counsellor my aim is to provide a safe environment for you to explore yourself and all your emotions, by being a calming companion who listens to you with empathetic understanding, witnessing, accepting, and valuing you as a person.

Whether it is anxiety, depression, family issues, or any other fears or stressors you are facing, together we can work to find an understanding of how you view your life, past, present, future and how you fit into the world around you, working towards goals you set, at a pace you create, you are in control here.

How I work

I believe that relationships are at the heart of what it means to be human, and through the relationship with ourselves and others we can learn and grow into the most authentic version of ourselves.

I use an integrative approach which means I am trained in different methods of counselling and instead of using only one, I can mix bits from each to make the way we work together unique and individual to you and our counselling relationship. My training gives me the skills to ensure I focus on you and your needs during sessions, allowing us to work together at a depth and pace you are comfortable with.

Some of the methods I use are:

Person Centred: helping you to explore your own problems, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence.

Psychodynamic: focusing on immediate problems while acknowledging the importance of how a persons unconscious decisions and biases shaped through their past experiences can affect current behaviour.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): looking at your current feelings and can help create manageable solutions to help you feel better now, rather than looking purely at the past. It can help you change the way you think (cognitive) and what you do (behaviour).

Session Information

I am able to offer short term; where we commit to working together for a short period of time either 6, 12, or 24 weeks, working towards a specific goal. Throughout this time we review our work together, what is working well, how you feel about your set goals, and if there is anything we can change to help you achieve them.

Open ended; meaning the sessions are open to you for as long as you feel you need them, and we will have regular reviews on how you feel about your sessions, and your needs.

Each session is 50 minutes long and can be both in person, online, or by telephone and £50 per session. Please contact me for a free 20 minute introductory call if you would like to see if I am right for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
