About me
I am an accredited counsellor with many years experience of working with most of life's difficulties, including anxiety, depression, relationships, bereavement and trauma. I have specialist experience in working with the ongoing impact of sexual abuse and rape. I also have particular interest in women's health issues throughout life. I offer in-person counselling in central Exeter, and I also work online via video call.
I can offer you a safe and confidential space to talk through the issues that are troubling you. We can explore your concerns at your pace, and work towards understanding them, so you can move forward with your life. We will work together to establish a trusting relationship, where you feel listened to and understood. Particularly if you have PTSD symptoms, or you are recovering from traumatic experiences, this therapy relationship will help you to gradually increase your ability to trust, and to feel safer in your body and in the world.
I offer a free initial discussion on the telephone or via Zoom, so that you can tell me a little bit about what is troubling you, and we can decide if we are a good 'fit' before we agree to work together.

Accredited and Registered Member of BACP (Certificate No. 027623) since 2012. I adhere to the Association's Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling, and I have regular counselling supervision. I also have professional indemnity insurance.
I have many years experience working as a counsellor in Voluntary Sector organisations, with adults with various mental health issues and very difficult life experiences, including a specialist service for adults who have experienced sexual abuse and trauma. I have also provided brief, time-limited counselling in an NHS 'Improving Access to Psychological Therapies' service, as well as offering open-ended counselling in private practice.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
