About me
I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also a qualified counselling supervisor for individuals and groups. I work with a wide range of issues and provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore any concerns you might have. I offer long and short term therapy to suit individual needs.
My work is informed by Humanistic and Psychodynamic approaches and I take a particular interest in exploring the way our past informs our present and allowing for new awareness and insight into current issues. I believe in every person`s own uniqueness and ability to grow and change but sometimes it can feel difficult to take the first step. This is why finding the right person to support you in your journey of self discovery is important. I aim to create a trusting relationship with my clients, so they would feel safe to explore their problems, identify patterns and repetitions, and find solutions to their problems. Do not hesitate to contact me and we can discuss your needs from therapy and how can I support you best in this journey. I offer an initial assessment session without obligation to continue if either of us feel that we might not be best suited.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have trained over a number of years and have gained experience working with a wide range of issues in both short and long term settings. I have worked as a counsellor for the NHS and various agencies in the voluntary sector, as well as privately. My experience covers a diverse range of clients, presenting with a broad range of issues. I work under regular and ongoing supervision, and I am committed to continuous professional development.
Some of the issues I work with are relationships, depression and anxiety, childhood trauma, bereavement and loss, attachment and separation, confidence and low self esteem, sexuality and identity.
As well as offering insight oriented therapy, I help clients cope with high levels of stress, depression, anxiety and panic attacks.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
