About me
I offer one to one counselling in my private practice in Ballymena.
I have 20 years experience and I am able to address a wide range of issues and difficulties that cause depression and anxiety.
I invite you to arrange an initial consultation when I can hear what is troubling you and discuss how problems, challenges and obstacles in your life can be addressed and resolved so that you have more freedom to be yourself and enjoy your life.
The Initial Consultation
This is a time to share your reason for seeking counselling.
And a time for me to explain how I might help you address your issues.
It is important that you feel comfortable to share your issues with me and that you feel I am the right person for you. This first meeting can help you make this decision.
To help me assess your issues I will ask you some biographical details.
Confidentiality is of paramount importance.
Training, qualifications & experience
Training
I trained at the Institute of Psychosynthesis in London
I had the privilege of training alongside other mature students from all walks of life and various parts of the world. This experience afforded me the opportunity to gain a deep appreciation of difference and diversity.
Qualifications
Post Graduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Therapeutic Counselling
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision
Experience
I have been working as a Therapeutic Counsellor for the past 20 years. I find my work very rewarding and fulfilling through guiding my clients to work through their issues and learn more about themselves and their potential.
As a trained Supervisor I offer supervision to qualified counsellors
I also design and facilitate private classes in many aspects of counselling practice for trained counsellors and those in training. I enjoy this aspect of my work also because I like to share my knowledge and experience to offer participants the best guidance and information to equip them to address client issues appropriately.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

About my Practice
I offer an initial consultation of one hour.
This is usually followed by six weekly sessions of one hour each. At the end of this period work is reviewed and it is agreed whether more sessions would be beneficial or whether work has completed.
When I work
I am available on weekdays. I aim to offer you a time that suits you best whether morning, afternoon or evening and within a week of contacting me.
Further information
I recommend you to consider arranging an initial consultation with me to help you clarify your issues and decide if counselling might be useful for you at this time.
I aim to offer initial consultations within a week of your request and so avoid having to join a waiting list.
I look forward to hearing from you and perhaps having the opportunity to help you.
