About me

I am a CBT and Person-Centred counsellor bringing kindness, compassion, and empathy to your emotional needs. Are you overwhelmed, and life is just getting on top of you? Are you struggling with managing difficult emotions; feelings of lack of self-worth, loneliness, or other mental health issues and don’t know where to turn for support?

Sometimes we all need a helping hand. By bringing heartfelt empathy to your issues, we can build a powerful and healing therapeutic relationship to help you discover your potential and capacity for change.

For the past twenty years I have been involved in counselling young people and adults in various settings, including schools, training centres, careers offices, youth clubs, prisons, Relate, and social care. I have worked with individual clients with complex mental health needs such as Complex PTSD, PTSD, addiction, anxiety, depression, and other issues.
Recognising that we are all on a powerful journey to enhance our lives is central to my practice. This process is never completed and this is okay.

My role and something I continually strive towards, is to build meaningful therapeutic relationships with my clients. The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of the work I do.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I work with young people from the age of 11 who present with issues relating to parental separation, anxiety and stress, and other issues relating to psychological, and emotional developmental difficulties. Young people who are within or have been within the care system. Adults with trauma-related issues, relationship issues, and struggling with issues of self-worth. Adults who are finding that coping mechanisms that previously helped them to survive, no longer serve them and would like to develop new helpful coping strategies to move forward in their lives.
