About me

Addressing specific habits and patterns of thinking can have a significant impact on your self-esteem, self-worth, self-reliance and self-awareness. I have experience working with clients to find meaning in problems expereinced within areas such as stress, anxiety, low self esteem, relationship issues (self or others), sexual identity, sexuality, masculine embodiment, depression, sadness, loss and grief, suicidal thoughts.

I feel that coming to therapy can be daunting as clients often do not know what to expect.  I like to talk this through with clients and make sure that you feel safe and secure, and we can build a therapeutic relationship together.  I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space in which you can explore your thoughts and feelings, allowing you to understand more about yourself and your relationships with others at your own pace.

I believe that a safe and supportive environment is fundamental for a successful therapuetic relationship. This helps you to open up and explore your concerns, and only approach experiences and thoughts you are ready to discuss, and so start to facilitate therapeutic change.

My counselling approach is influenced by humanistic values in therapy, which means the focus is very much about trusting in your own emotional resources, helping you to develop and gain the awareness you need to make changes in your life to feel more positive and happier.  The focus of the therapy is engaging on an emotional level, processing blocked emotions and becoming more open emotionally, to yourself and others.  It is also about improving communication with others if you desire.  My therapy approach is a collaborative process in which you take the lead in our work together.

I believe positive change and growth comes when you are given the opportunity to engage in a process that helps you develop new awareness and value for yourself.  Together we will work on emotional distress and the symptoms that have prompted you to seek counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
